At Hollander Group, we specialize in transforming bathrooms to meet the highest standards of accessibility and safety.
Our expert team is dedicated to creating spaces that are not only functional but also stylish, ensuring that individuals with disabilities can enjoy independence and comfort in their own homes.
We offer a comprehensive range of services, including the installation of walk-in tubs, roll-in showers, grab bars, and adjustable-height fixtures, all tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Our commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail guarantees a bathroom remodel that enhances both usability and aesthetic appeal, making daily routines easier and more enjoyable for everyone.
An ADA-compliant bathroom is designed to be accessible to individuals with disabilities, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Here are the key features:
A minimum clear floor space of 60 inches in diameter is required for a wheelchair to turn around. The floor space should be free of obstructions.
Doors must be at least 32 inches wide to accommodate wheelchairs. The door hardware should be easy to operate with one hand and should not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist.
The toilet should be positioned with a seat height of 17 to 19 inches above the floor. Grab bars must be installed on both sides of the toilet, at least 36 inches long and positioned between 33 and 36 inches above the floor.
* Roll-in showers with a floor slope not exceeding 2% are ideal. * Grab bars should be installed in the shower area, and the shower controls should be located within easy reach. * Bathtubs should have a seat or bench and grab bars around the tub perimeter.
There should be enough space to maneuver a wheelchair, typically at least 30 inches by 48 inches in front of fixtures like sinks, toilets, and showers.
The floor should have a non-slip surface to prevent accidents.
An emergency call system should be installed within reach of the toilet and shower areas.
Medicine cabinets should be recessed into the wall to provide clear space below and make them easier to access.
Light switches, electrical outlets, and thermostats should be no higher than 48 inches from the floor and should be easy to reach and operate.
